Job Summary
The Mascot is a part-time role that brings our brand to life by engaging guests through energetic, friendly, and professional character performance, as our mascot, Tater. This role is responsible for creating memorable guest experiences across events, appearances, and attractions while maintaining Tater's personality, safety, and integrity.

Duties

  • Perform as the assigned mascot character at events, attractions, and appearances.
  • Interact and maintain a positive, friendly demeanor to enhance the guest experience, as well as using gestures like high fives, dancing, and playful antics.
  • Embody the character’s personality in a way that aligns with the value and image of Port Farms and Poverty Knob Farmhouse Ales.
  • Keep the costume clean, well-maintained, and organized, and report any damage that needs repair.
  • Follow guidelines for hydration, breaks, and navigate safely in crowded or confined areas while wearing the costume.
  • Preserve the illusion of the character by not speaking or removing the costume in public view, as well as avoiding breaking character, even when dealing with challenging situations.
  • Mascot will be accompanied by a handler, who assists Mascot; interacts with guests, guides Tater, and helps dress/undress the costume.
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Ability to stand, walk, dance, and move energetically for extended periods.
  • Comfortable performing in costume and engaging with the public.
  • Ability to engage and entertain without speaking.
  • Ability to follow directions and performance guidelines.
  • Comfortable working with children and large crowds.
  • Must fit within costume sizing; 5’7” to 6’1”.
  • Ability to wear a heavy, insulated costume in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to safely navigate limited visibility and maintain spatial awareness.
  • Comfortable working in confined, warm environments.

Work Schedule:

The schedule for this position is on an as-needed basis for events in the off-season. Applicants should have availability to work: 12-5PM on Saturdays and Sundays from August 1st through November.

  • Shifts may include evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends is required.

Pay: $14.00 per hour

This role is essential to delivering high-quality food in a fast-paced, team-driven environment. Kitchen Cooks may rotate between several back-of-house functions, including Grill Cook, Fry Cook, Expeditor, and BOH Prep, supporting smooth kitchen flow and consistent food quality during service.
